Car history: |
2) Who doesn't like a yellow Corvette? Fully documented, numbers matching example with its Tri-Power 427 and four speed! This car has every piece of original paperwork you could save, and that really enhances the car's value (as well as its ability to keep it.) We have: -The original window sticker -Tank sticker -Protect-O-Plate -Original warranty booklet, showing the original selling dealer, the VIN and date of purchase -Original 5/50 warranty explanation booklet -Sunvisor ignition lock instruction sleeve -Owner's manual and packet -Original FM radio information card -Original headlamp instruction card -Original wheel trim ring instruction card If you're looking for an exciting color, Daytona Yellow fills the bill. Bright, brash and sexy it shows off Corvette's curves just right. The paintwork is much better than factory, covering straight panels. Bright chrome, straight stainless and clean rally wheels accentuate the color. Knock out the T-Tops, pop out the rear window, and find your favorite road--this car's built for seeing and being seen. Here's how the window sticker shows how the car was built: A01 Soft-Ray tinted glass G81 Positraction axle, 3.70 ratio J50 Power brakes K66 Full-transistor ignition system L36 390hp Turbo-Jet 427 L68 390 to 400hp equipment (Tri-Power) M21 Close-ratio four speed transmission N40 Power steering PT6 F70x15 Redline tires TJ2 Front fender trim U69 AM/FM pushbutton radio U79 AM/FM stereo pushbutton radio 984 Daytona Yellow (ZQ4) black vinyl interior All told, sticker price was $6022 and change, shipped to Dailys Chevrolet in Erie, Pennsylvania. Only 5% of production shipped with the 400hp Tri-Power engine, 12% with transistor ignition, 10% with the stereo radio and 11% with redline tires (though it seems 90% of them currently run them!). There's more: Here's the list of important part numbers and the original option list: Block T0626MK (400hp Tri-Power 427,) original VIN stamped as well, Intake manifold 3937795 (correct), Carburetors 3940929 (primary) 3902353 (secondaries), Transmission P9K03 (B,) M21 close ratio, VIN stamped on case, Rear axle FA (3.70 Positraction). Under the hood you'll find the very potent 427 wearing the original trio of Holley carbs tucked under the cool triangular air cleaner. With hydraulic lifters, and a lower compression ratio an L68 car is simply better to own and drive, especially with the electronic ignition. Power delivery is there from idle to redline, yet valve adjustments and frequent tune ups simply aren't required as they are on big brother L71. Put the car on a lift and examine the chassis, removed from the body for the full treatment. Stencils, paint markings and grease pencil marks are in their proper places, and the all components were restored to stock specs. Other than the shocks (KYB units for better control) there aren't any changes from stock, and that's what you want. Inside, you're greeted by new seat covers, new carpeting and excellent original components. Power steering and brakes make cruising stone simple. The sport wheel fits right in your hands, the gauges all work as they should and there's a definite airy feel with the tops and rear window removed. It's a neat car to drive. A 427 Corvette is always going to be a desirable car, and paperwork is this example's key to the top shelf. Very nice in execution, excellent to drive and awesome looking this Corvette deserves a place in your collection. $83,990. June 5, 2010. 1) 1969 Chevrolet Corvette, 427/400 HP Tri-Power, Triple Threat. Tri-Power, All Paper, All Numbers Match! 400 HP engine is the rarest drivetrain of all. Only 2,072 people of the 38,762 had the fortitude to order the brutal L68 427CI Tri-Power drivetrain. This car is one of those 2,072 and it retains its matching numbers engine, transmission and rear axleVery rare and very special indeed. The vehicle was sold originally to a Mr. Stanford of PA on Aug, 16th, 1969 and the odometer currently registers 16,598 miles (unknown if original). In addition to its completely Born With drivetrain, this brilliant, eye-popping, code 984 Daytona Yellow/trim ZQ4 black vinyl interior Tri-Power Corvette is documented with more original factory paperwork than Ive ever seen on one car. Original Tank Sticker, Window Invoice, Protect-O-Plate, Warranty Book, Owners Manual and sleeve, Trim Ring instruction sleeve, Radio Instruction card, Ignition Lock System instruction card, Chevy Postcard, Headlamp Washer instruction card and dozens of frame-off restoration pics! In addition to its very rare and original 427/400 Tri-Power drivetrain, this investment-quality Corvette was also optioned very well. Directly from the original window invoice and tank sticker, this Corvette was ordered with Soft-Ray Tinted Glass, 3.70 geared Posi-Traction rear axle, Power Brakes, Transistor Ignition, 4-speed Close-Ratio Muncie manual transmission, Power Steering, Head Rests, Red Stripe tires, front Fender Louvers and AM/FM Stereo radio. Although this is a beautiful show car, this car is not a trailer queen. It runs and drives excellent and is very powerful and solid mechanically. Colors from the trim plate. Built date is L15. October 24, 2009. |
